Our School

Located in the historic district of Hillsborough, North Carolina, River Park has a strong connection with the community. Making the most of these connections and of our beautiful, wooded campus, we have, with the Historic Tree Society, identified rare or historic trees and placed identifying markers on them. Believing that students learn best when they are applying information, we will continue to use our school grounds for environmental and science lessons. 

Because all of our faculty and staff understand that strong literacy skills are essential for student success, we place a major emphasis on literacy strategies using a balanced literacy program. Our staff has been trained using best practices that provide students with skill development that melds schools of thought. We believe that integration of curricula is critical, enveloping aesthetics as a focused strategy for making connections. 

We also realize that we live in a technological world, and thus, we also focus on helping students become competent, informed users of technology. Another emphasis we have at River Park is on differentiated instruction and acceleration of curriculum and content. We have high expectations for our students, and we provide the tools for each of them to meet these expectations. 

River Park has a thriving volunteer program and would love to have parents and community members join us. Our Parent-Teacher Governance Organization (PTGO) is very active and a strong component of making our school successful.
